Get the kids ready to see some of their favorite furry friends at the local Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo! See the newest Fossa Pups play, zip around with a friendly Zebra, and even look at Leopards! With many different countries and exhibits to explore in our own backyard, this stop is a must on your Summer to-do list!
Get Your Groove On!
Get your dancing shoes on and head to the Band Shell in Baker Park every Sunday night July through August to listen to some of the area’s best bands and their terrific tunes! Anything from Ska to 90’s cover bands will grace the stage to bring music to your ears as you pull up a chair and grab a snow cone to swing your toes to the beat! Party with Paint!
Dancing Bear Toy Store introduces Pint-Sized Picasso invites parents and children (ages 2-4)! Bring your little ones to learn about the fun side of art and different mediums. Watch as they explore colors and different techniques to produce a one of a kind work of art! More info can be found HERE.

Bring a blanket and enjoy movies under the stars as the big screen brings your favorite family-time classics to life! Just announced by the National Main Street Center, Thurmont’s Main Street joins the accredited 2016 Main Street America Program!
This national organization recognizes cities and towns of different sizes that successfully execute programs dedicated to excellent economic growth to the town’s central Main Street community. To be included in this prestigious cultivation of thriving downtown Main Street communities, Thurmont exudes the qualifications that make it worthy of such accreditation to the National Main Street America Program!
These qualifications include fostering public-private partnerships, maintaining public outreach, operating on a fiscally secure budget, preserving historic buildings and sustaining revitalization efforts. Since it opened at 11 Water St. in 2015, Thurmont Main Street has served as the town’s focal point, housing the visitor center, an art gallery, a public meeting space and headquarters for holiday events.
The Thurmont Farmers Market is one of the many revitalization efforts that have contributed to Thurmont’s Main Street accreditation. Other efforts include new streetlights, benches, sidewalks, and bicycle accommodations.
Visit Thurmont and their thriving Main Street community today to see that this small town has big happenings all year long!
